FSC Hosted an Information Session on Cyber Security in the Insurance Industry on December 4th, 2020

As an effort to supervise the implementation and enforcement of information security measures in the insurance sector, the Financial Examination Bureau (FEB), on behalf of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), invited Information Technology and Information Security Department Heads from 45 insurance companies to participate in “Cyber Security in the Insurance Industry Information Session” on December 4th, 2020, helping to raise the companies’ awareness of information security risks and protective measures.

The session started with FSC’s Department of Information Management and Insurance Bureau (IB) giving respective explanations for Financial Cyber Security Action Plan and Emphasis on Information Security Supervision in the Insurance Industry, followed by the FEB’s brief on primary non-conformance categories summarized from recent findings in targeted examinations for the Insurance Industry’s Information Technology Management to allow participating companies better understand the FSC’s supervisory perspective, causes of non-conformance, and optimal industrial practices as a collective effort to urge those companies to strengthen information security and corresponding defensive measures.
