Statistics of Credit Card & Cash Card & Electronic Stored Value Cards Business Operation as of January 2017

1.Credit card:
As of January 2017, thirty-six credit card issuing institutions were in operation in Taiwan. The number of effective cards totaled 40.5 million (40.7 million at the end of December 2016) among which the total active cards numbered in 26.84 million (27.02 million at the end of December 2016). The balance of revolving credit was NT$109.2 billion (NT$109.1 billion at the end of December 2016). The amount of undue balance of installment was approximately NT$96.5 billion (NT$95.3 billion at the end of December 2016). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$201.0 billion that decreased by NT$14.3 billion as compared to NT$215.3 billion of December 2016. The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.44 billion (NT$0.36 billion for December 2016). Average ratio of delinquency credit (pass-due over three months) against account receivables (including non-accrual amounts) was 0.25% (0.27% at the end of December 2016) (Please see Attachment 1).
2. Cash card:
As of January 2017, seventeen financial institutions were engaged in issuing cash cards in Taiwan. Total number of effective cash cards was 0.42 million (0.43 million at the end of December 2016). Total balance of cash card loans (including non-accrual amounts) was NT$20.0 billion (NT$20.4 billion at the end of December 2016). The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.04 billion (NT$0.04 billion for December 2016). The overall delinquency ratio was down from 1.058% of December 2016 to 1.026% (Please see Attachment 2).
3. Electronic Stored Value Card:
As of January 2017, four specializing electronic stored value card institutions and two commercial banks are engaging in electronic stored value card business in Taiwan. The number of effective cards totaled 81.56 million (80.58 million at the end of December 2016). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$6.38 billion (NT$6.81 billion for December 2016). The balance of stored value was NT$7.15 billion that increased by NT$170 million as compared to last month (NT$6.98 billion at the end of December 2016) (Please see Attachment 3).
4. Supervisory Measures:
In accordance with the current regulations, the FSC is required to undertake supervisory measures on a financial institution with a delinquency ratio of over 3% for its credit card or cash card operations.
(1) Credit cards:All the card-issuing institutions had delinquency ratios below 3%.
 (2) Cash cards:All the card-issuing institutions had delinquency ratios below 3%.
